Avoiding and Recognizing Scams
Scams can be recognized when the following signs are in the email:
- Poor spelling and grammar
- Asking for photos of pumping
- Offer to send you additional money
- Request for seller to wire money to anyone (eg. courier service, Western Union, Walmart-to-Walmart)
- Refusal to speak over the phone
- Cashier checks or money orders
- Fishy stories
- Willing to pay $1+ an ounce for large amounts of milk
- Request of your financial information (Never give your financial info)
- They tell you that your PayPal balance will not show funds until you have paid the courier (PayPal will always show funds if they have been sent to you)
WARNING DO NOT ACCEPT COURIER SERVICES or SHIPPING AGENTS, these are almost always scams to get you to send them money. Never wire funds.
SIGN IN AND CHECK YOUR PAYPAL BALANCE, to be sure that funds have been sent and you haven’t sent a fake email. See more PayPal scam info here.
WARNING DO NOT ACCEPT CHECKS, FAKE CASHIER CHECKS & MONEY ORDERS ARE COMMON, and BANKS WILL CASH THEM AND THEN HOLD YOU RESPONSIBLE when the fake is discovered weeks later.
Actual SCAM messages sent to Only the Breast members:
Kindly confirm the name on your PayPal account to be “Your Name Here” so am sure am not sending money to the wrong person and the payment will be coming from my brother in-law’s PayPal account Collins and will also be adding the shipping fee of $320 to the payment am sending to you making it a total of $1,820 because i want you to help me pay my courier $320 when they come for pick up. kindly let me know if you will be able to do this for me so i can proceed with the payment.Can i have your contact number

How was your day? my daughter just gave birth some days ago and the doctor just discover that she has a breast cancer,so she will not be able to breast feed her baby and i will be needing about 100 to 3000 ounces..am ready to handle the shipping and packaging of the milk if you don’t mind.

Good morning. I would love to buy any amount you can make when we meet and I will pay you 2.00 an ounce for it.
I would love it at least 2 or 3 times a week if you wouldn’t mind and you are able to make that much extra milk.
I live in Lakeland with my grandparents and grandparents and I have my own car and I can drive to you and pay you in cash each time.
I can come any weekday morning.
